Habitual Traffic Offender – HTO

What is a Habitual Traffic Offender?

A Habitual Traffic Offender is someone who, within a five-year period, is convicted of either: a) fifteen moving violations for which points may be assessed on their driver’s license; or b) three offenses on a list of more serious crimes, such as manslaughter, DUI, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
The most common reason for an HTO designation is driving with a suspended or revoked license. This is because driving is such a necessary part of living and working. It can be difficult or impossible to hold down a job or raise a family if your license is suspended. That’s why it’s very important to do everything you can to avoid being designated a Habitual Traffic Offender. If you are designated an HTO and are subsequently caught driving, you will be charged with a felony.

Often times, a good defense Miami Suspended License Attorney can successfully negotiate with prosecutors to reduce a DWLS charge to a NVDL charge to avoid HTO status. The Miami NVDL Attorney at Redavid Law PLLC has successfully negotiated such charges on a daily basis even convincing both judges and prosecutors to give clients time to get a valid driver’s license and dismiss the charges, so let us fight for you. A Florida habitual offender’s license will be revoked for a period of five years. After one year, an HTO may request a hardship license in order to drive to and from work. Do you think you could keep your job for ever one year without a license, let alone five?

I have the dedication to your defense and the skills necessary to negotiate your charges down or get them dismissed entirely, as well as to help you keep your driving privileges or get a hardship license so you can keep your job. Don’t make the mistake of going to a law firm that is a huge mill for traffic offenses. You can’t expect from them the tailored approach and personal service that I promise to each of my clients. Worse yet, do not assume you can handle these matters yourself. You need an attorney who will fight hard for your rights.
