Florida woman jailed for DUI after hit-and-run crashes

A Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, woman was arrested for driving under the influence after being involved in a string of multi-county hit-and-run crashes. She drove an SUV from Northeast Florida into Southeast Georgia with two children as passengers. Georgia State Patrol arrested Brandy Stroud Gleaton, 33, soon after she hit a deputy patrol’s car during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in Georgia. Gleaton is facing three DUI charges. Florida highway patrol launches annual DUI crackdown

The Florida Highway Patrol’s annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign to crack down on DUI is in effect and scheduled to continue through New Year’s Day. Cops are always on the lookout for drunk drivers, as they should be, but this campaign represents a significant increase in those efforts. In a news release, the FHP said that both auxiliary troopers and those normally assigned to administrative duties will be contributing to patrol efforts.
